Timer Files
Export meet data for timing systems like Superior Swim Timing (SST).
Overview
Timer files allow you to export meet schedules and event details in a format compatible with electronic timing systems. These files can be imported into your timing system to pre-populate event information, reducing manual entry and errors on meet day.
File Types
SwimMeet Pro generates two types of timer files:
Contains the complete event lineup for your meet in semicolon-delimited format.
Includes:
- Event numbers
- Event names and descriptions
- Distance and stroke information
- Gender and age group details
- Event type (individual/relay)
Separate files for each event containing all entered swimmers and relay teams.
Includes:
- Event header information
- All entered swimmers/relay teams
- Team codes and affiliations
- Proper formatting for timing systems
Downloading Timer Files
You can download timer files from multiple locations in SwimMeet Pro:
The meet page offers several download options via the "Timer Files" dropdown button:
Download All (Schedule + Events)
Downloads a complete zip file containing:
- Schedule file (.sch)
- All event files (.scb)
Schedule File (.sch)
Downloads only the schedule file containing event definitions.
All Event Files (.zip)
Downloads all event files in a zip without the schedule file.
From the Events page (Table or List view), you can download individual event files:
- Locate the event you want to download
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) for that event
- Select "Download Event File (.scb)"
This is useful if you need to regenerate a single event file after making changes.
File Naming Conventions
SwimMeet Pro uses standard naming conventions for timer files:
Schedule File:
Example: Conference Championship 2025.sch
Event Files:
Event numbers are zero-padded to 3 digits
Examples: E001.scb, E002.scb, E023.scb
Zip Files:
- event_files.zip - All event files only
- timer_files.zip - Schedule + all event files
Using Timer Files
How to import timer files into your timing system:
- Download timer files from SwimMeet Pro (recommended: "Download All")
- Extract the zip file to a folder on your timing computer
- Open your timing system software (e.g., Superior Swim Timing)

- Verify that all events and entries loaded correctly
Timing System Compatibility:
- Superior Swim Timing (SST) - Fully compatible
- Other Systems - May require format conversion
Contact support if you need assistance with other timing systems.
Troubleshooting
Common issues and solutions:
Solution:
- Ensure all files are in the same folder
- Check that schedule file (.sch) is imported first
- Verify files aren't corrupted (re-download if needed)
- Confirm your timing system supports the format
Solution:
- Verify all entries are saved in SwimMeet Pro before downloading
- Re-download the timer files to get the latest data
- Check that heats have been generated for all events
- Ensure swimmers are properly assigned to events
Solution:
- Edit opponent team settings and set a custom short name
- Short names should be 2-6 characters
- Re-download timer files after updating team information
